look of most others available. It not only looks super but also functions exceptionally well. It is more weather proof than most, attaches easily and securely, using quick release buckles, and unobtrusive 3/4 in. web straps, two fore and two aft. It rides on a 5/8-in. thick detachable foam pad that protects the tank, doesn't slip around and can be washed and wrung out to dry quickly if it should become soiled.
The map window is 8" x 12", large enough to display two sections of a standard road map, without extra folding. The window is made of optical grade, clear vinyl that won't yellow, cloud or become brittle with age.
Access into the pack is by one single straight zipper down the center, making zipping easy with one hand. There is a padded web handle at the rear for easy, comfortable, off the bike carrying.
The Tank Pack's tapered both toward the rear and top, suggesting
the shape of a traditional gas tank. This shape is especially comfortable for
sport riders, who crouch low to diminish wind resistance. The approximate dimensions
are 11" x 15" at the base, 10" x 13" on the top and 4" to 8" high. This gives
about 1,000 cu. in. of carrying capacity. The pack retains its' shape, even
when empty, because the body and sides are made with 3/8" foam sheeting, sandwiched
between an outer shell of Cordura and a nylon pack cloth lining. There are rigid
plastic rods sewn into the hem to keep the sides apart.If all this isn't enough, we include our Map Pack, which carries 16 standard road maps and hangs on a web strap in the front.
